• Who is Our Generation actually for?

  Our Generation enables public sector buildings, such as schools, to benefit from renewable energy on a pay as you go basis.

• What does Our Generation do?

  Our Generation installs Solar PV arrays on the roofs of large school or local authority buildings with no capital outlay cost to the school / local authority

• How does Our Generation work?

  There is an energy services contract, whereby the establishment agrees to buy back electricity from Our Generation for the duration of the contract. The price per unit of electricity & the annual price rise is agreed at the start of the contract and therefore known for the duration of the contract, so there are no hidden costs or unforeseen rises in cost.

• What are the unit costs?

  This is dependent on the type and size of Solar PV array, the building and the duration of the contract.  On longer term contracts, the initial price is revenue neutral, so the price per unit from Our Generation is equal to current prices from other energy providers. As energy prices rise, our customers benefit.

• How long is the contract for?

  The longer the contract, the cheaper the unit price. Typically 15-25 years.

• What happens at the end of the contract?

  There are 3 options. If both parties agree, the contract can roll over at the agreed tarif. The school can buy the equipment at a market rate. The system will be taken down. (Fee payable at market rates).

• What are the benefits

  It is revenue neutral, with no capital outlay cost to the establishment. Significant CO2 savings (Birchwood High School achieved an initial 7% reduction in CO2 emissions with their Our Generation SPV array).  Not to mention the numerous educational benefits, tying in with the national curriculum.
